Shengbang Microelectronics launches 18V 8A high-efficiency synchronous step-down converter SGM61184

    Shengbang Microelectronics has launched an efficient synchronous step-down converter SGM61184, which supports an input voltage range of 4.5V to 18V and an 8A output current capability. It adopts peak current control with a fixed switching frequency and operates in forced pulse width modulation mode (Force PWM), ensuring extremely low switching jitter (Jitter) and low output voltage ripple across the full load range. Widely applicable in wireless communication, instrumentation, industrial control and other fields.
    The SGM61184 chip has rich functions and flexible configurations, including enabling function, adjustable soft start, adjustable switching frequency, adjustable output voltage, external loop compensation, normal power indication, support for frequency synchronization, pre bias start, and complete protection functions. The chip adopts TQFN-3.5, which conforms to environmental protection concepts × 3.5-18AL green packaging.

SGM61184 Core Features
    1. SGM61184 integrates two main switching tubes (8.6m Ω and 4.5m Ω) with extremely low conduction impedance (RDSON), effectively improving converter efficiency, reducing system energy consumption, saving equipment operating costs, and reducing system temperature rise, simplifying heat dissipation design. In addition, the device supports a maximum junction temperature of+150 ℃ and can adapt to harsh temperature environments.

    SGM61184 adopts peak current mode control, fixed switching frequency, and operates in forced pulse width modulation mode. Ensuring small output voltage ripple within the full load range is very suitable for applications sensitive to power ripple and switching frequency jitter, such as communication base stations, instruments, etc.
    3. SGM61184 has a built-in soft start function, which can reduce the instantaneous input current surge and ensure that the output voltage is free of overshoot. Input undervoltage lockout (UVLO), enable control pin (EN), and power normal indication (PG) can achieve sequential logic control of system power on and off.
    4. SGM61184 has a wide range of protection functions, including input undervoltage lockout (UVLO), high and low side switch tube current limiting and hiccup mode protection (Hiccup), low side switch tube negative current limiting, output overvoltage protection (Output OVP), input overvoltage protection (Input OVP), and over temperature protection (OTP).
    5. The SGM61184 package adopts a Flip Chip structure, which can reduce the parasitic inductance introduced by traditional wire bonding methods. Combined with the optimized MOSFET driving technology of Shengbang, it effectively reduces the parasitic oscillations of switch nodes. While reducing internal device stress, it is combined with a symmetrical TQFN package and PCB layout to effectively optimize the EMI characteristics of the device.
Application scenarios of SGM61184
    In communication application scenarios, equipment may be installed outdoors or even outdoors. To meet the IP65 protection level, electronic systems are installed in enclosed spaces and can only rely on natural heat dissipation (without forced air or liquid cooling). SGM61184 supports a working junction temperature of+150 ℃, with an over temperature protection point set at+175 ℃. It can be used in environments with poor heat dissipation or harsh high temperatures. SGM61184 has high conversion efficiency, which can reduce power loss, improve system efficiency, reduce heat dissipation pressure, and save operating costs. This device has a fixed switching frequency, low output voltage ripple, and optimized EMI characteristics, which can reduce interference to noise sensitive systems.
