XPD720 Description:
XPD720 is an integrated USB Type-C, USB Power Delivery (PD) 2.0/3.0 and PPS, QC3.0+/QC3.0/QC2.0 fast charge protocol, Huawei FCP/SCP/HVSCP Fast charge protocol, Samsung AFC Fast charge protocol, BC1.2 DCP and multi-protocol port controller of Apple device 2.4A charging specification provide cost-effective USB Type-C port charging solution for AC-DC adapters, car chargers and other devices.
XPD720 built-in Type-C protocol can support Type-C device insertion automatic wake up, intelligent identification of plug plug and reverse plug, and achieve connection. The XPD720 integrated PD protocol supports bidirectional markup coding (BMC), a physical layer protocol and protocol engine that integrates hardware without software involvement in codec.
XPD720 supports up to 36W output power, the broadcast PDO voltage can be configured as 5V/9V/12V, and the 5V Prog and 9V Prog two-speed APDO voltage range can be flexibly configured.
XPD720 can dynamically adjust voltage through a Sink/Source current source connected to the feedback pin of AC-DC or DC-DC. Whether it is starting or regulating, it has a soft start/regulating function to achieve a smooth voltage transition.
The XPD720 has a variety of built-in protection mechanisms to ensure device safety: including dynamic overvoltage/undervoltage/overcurrent protection (protection points can be proportionally adjusted according to the operating voltage/current requested by the device); Start monitoring (VBUS output will monitor whether the port voltage is in a safe state); DP/DM and CC1/CC2 overvoltage protection.
The XPD720 integrates a 10mΩ VBUS channel power switch tube and a dual discharge channel, with an integrated constant voltage control loop, which also enables faster output shutdown and return to a safe state in the event of an error.
The XPD720 can easily pass the USB PD certification test without adding components for certification.
The XPD720 is packaged in an ESOP8 package and works without additional components, providing optimal BOM costs
