Linear charge management

HP4553

    HP4553 is a complete high-voltage, high current, single cell lithium-ion battery linear charging IC that uses constant current/constant voltage. The maximum withstand voltage can reach 28V, with 6.8V automatic overvoltage protection and a maximum charging current of 800mA. Input the minimum working voltage of 3.75V to meet the customer‘s dynamic adjustment of input voltage, reduce charging power consumption, and improve overall efficiency.
    Due to the use of an internal PMOS architecture and an anti backcharge circuit, there is no need for external isolation diodes. Thermal feedback can automatically adjust the charging current and limit the chip temperature in high-power applications or high ambient temperature conditions. Seven float charging voltages of 4.0V, 4.1V, 4.15V, 4.2V, 4.35V, 4.4V, and 4.45V are available for customers to choose from. The charging current can be set externally through a resistor. When the battery voltage reaches the float charging voltage, the charging current gradually decreases. When the charging current drops to the set value of 1/10, HP4553 will automatically terminate the charging process.
    When the input voltage (AC adapter or USB power supply) drops, HP4553 automatically enters a low current state, reducing the battery leakage current to below 1uA.
    Other features of HP4553 include thermal management, undervoltage protection, automatic recharging, and two LED status pins used to indicate charging and end of charging.
